Kokopellis
Wooden cutouts for the garden entry
You learn something new everyday. One morning Jim (the owner and creator of Cactus Country) came to me and said he wants some wooden kokopelli cutouts to set up at the entry gate of the garden. It was the first time I have ever heard of this character, so I had to do my little research to actually find out what to design.
The Kokopelli character depicting a flute player symbolizes a fertility deity and derives from native Southwestern American cultures.

There is countless designs of kokopellis, all with similar distinct features in hairstyle and posture, but still different in shape and body proportions. Incorporating these features I decided to create a kokopelli with rounded, curvy and smooth shapes in which the head takes up about a third of the whole body proportion. I wanted him to look like a friendly positive character.
This project (especially the hair of the kokopelli) was great to explore and practise my skills in the usage of a present I got for work not too long ago. Am very excited about my new jigsaw. To start off with I cut out five of them.
